Transitions, in general, have three parts. The first is loss. Even positive transitions, by their nature, leave behind one part of life. Many transitions involve pain, grief, fear, and uncertainty. We go from the known to the unknown, from surety to uncertainty, from good health to a threat to well-being. Transitions can involve death, divorce, a relocation, a job change or loss, a new baby and many more of course.
It also became clear to me that there would be no better time to offer some group sessions wherein stories could be told and shared with others as we all move through the transitional stages of change. From the chaos of loss, we move to reorganization and to eventual acceptance and hope.
You may have read my post in May when I shared my breast cancer journey or health transition. In it, I said, “So, now it is on to the third stage of consolidating these lessons and growing some hair!” I am happy to say that I now have hair albeit short.
New Group: Life and Health Transition Support
An evening group is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 17th at 6 pm.
We will meet every other Wednesday for eight sessions of 90 minutes.
A group for people who are experiencing life or health transitions including separation, divorce, the discovery of an affair, estrangement from adult children, grandchildren or siblings, relocation, facing or recovering from a major health issue, change or loss of job or retirement. Transitions typically have three parts, the first looking back, often dealing with loss, then working through problems and finally acceptance and hope. Mindfulness practices that can be continued at home will be included. We meet in my office downtown, a calm, caring and empathetic environment. You will be able to share what is on your mind without judgment. Please call or text (941) 306 1235 to register or to ask any questions you may have.
The cost for eight sessions is $200 or $30 per session.
